About Commissioner McCaskill
Dr. Kisha E. McCaskill was appointed as Cook County Commissioner of the 5th District on January 10, 2025. A lifelong resident of Cook County and a dedicated advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion, she brings a wealth of experience in public service, education, and community leadership.
Dr. McCaskill holds dual doctorate degrees in Public Service Administration and Organizational Leadership, a master’s in Public Policy, and dual bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Sociology. She has played a pivotal role in shaping Illinois policies, including the "Ban the Box" initiative and statewide workforce development programs.
Previously, she served as Executive Director of the Harvey Park District, where she spearheaded innovative youth and senior programs. A mentor, consultant, and award-winning leader, she is a long-standing Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. member and a featured columnist. She remains committed to empowering communities and fostering economic opportunities across the 5th District.
